Fitness Classes

Recommend anyone attending a fitness class show up 10 minutes prior to the start of each class to pay for the classes or for time to warm up. To register for the class, please call Thorpe Gym at 717-245-3418. Class cost is $5 per class. Payment is credit cards only. Payment is due the day of the class. Classes will be on the 3rd floor of Jim Thorpe Hall Gym.

Performance Fitness

Is varied functional movements performed at high intensity. The movements reflect the best aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more. A constantly varied approach to training, functional movements, and intensity lead to dramatic gains in fitness.

All fitness levels are welcome.

Body Blast

Is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) class for a high powered, total body, conditioning workout set to music. Body Blast works all major muscle groups to build endurance and increase metabolism by utilizing dumbbells, body bars, resistance tubing, the Resist-med ball, step platforms, core board, and your own body weight for increased fat burning.

All fitness levels are welcome.

Conducted Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 9:00 a.m.

 

Mat Pilates FB.jpgMat Pilates

Stott Pilates mat-work class at the Essential/Intermediate level will take you through a dynamic, full-body workout that focuses on improving flexibility and core strength, with exercises that stretch and tone all muscle groups. Programming may vary from session to session to include stability balls, weights, and flex-band exercisers. Class warm-up and repertoire exercises focus on Stott Pilates five basic principles. Our goal is to recreate the neutral spine, finding pelvic floor connection and integrating this into everyday life.

All fitness levels are welcome.

BB & Cycling FB.jpgBody Blast TRX & Spin

Body Blast TX and Spin Intervals Training is a cardio and strength workout. The workout is approximately 50 minutes in duration and incorporates the use of Spin bikes for cardio conditioning and TX straps to build lean muscle mass. The actual work out consists of one 8 minute TX muscle building interval followed by an 8 minute cardio interval on a Spin bike. This sequence is repeated for 3 rounds. These workouts will burn body fat while toning your muscles.

All fitness levels are welcome.

Zumba is a fusion of Latin and International music - dance themes that create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps."

Yoga is a powerful mindfulness practice, it will give you 60 minutes of time for just you. You will increase your flexibility while building strength. Yoga will keep your joints healthy and will reduce your stress.

Cardio Kickboxing

Cardio kickboxing combines martial arts techniques with fast-paced cardio. This high-energy workout challenges the beginner and elite athlete alike by building stamina, improving coordination and flexibility, and burn calories as you build lean muscle in a fun and challenging workout.

Judo

Judo is a martial art and Olympic sport that includes throwing, grappling techniques, joint-locks and other self-defense techniques. It fosters physical fitness training, mental discipline, martial arts philosophy and culture. This class is designed to improve and maintain fitness while learning new skills. Moreover, the class will guide students to learn various self-defense skills and to build self-confidence and self-discipline. This course seeks to introduce the basic and progressive concepts of judo. It will focus on throws and mat work as well as the history of judo and terminology associated with the sport. 

All fitness levels are welcome.

Conducted Tuesday & Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

 

TRX Yoga FB.jpgTRX Yoga

The TRX (Total Resistance Exercises) Yoga offers a combination of TRX Suspension Training with the elements of Viniyasa Yoga. This class will improve balance and coordination, increase mobility, and teach clients how to engage and fire up the correct muscles needed to create a fuller expression of a yoga posture. This class is appropriate for all levels.

All fitness levels are welcome.

Conducted Wednesday at 12:00 p.m.

Cost

$5 per class

Payment is credit card only.

To participate in classes, clients must sign up for a free gym membership and then purchase a class pass. Walk-ins are welcome and classes are open level to encourage participation of clients with varying fitness level.

 

Individual Packages/Unlimited Classes Included

$40 monthly/per person

$180 school year/per person

$225 yearly/per person

 

Family Packages/Unlimited Classes Included

There is no limit to the number of family members on a family pass.

$55 monthly/per family

$300 school year/per family

$375 yearly/per family

 

School Year Unlimited Fitness Class Package is from August to graduation during the academic year with 10 months of unlimited classes.
