Army Emergency Relief (AER) has provided over $2 billion in assistance since 1942 (with more than $1 billion since 9/11). In 2025, Carlisle Barracks Army Emergency Relief (AER) provided almost $40,000 in emergency loans and grants to eligible Soldiers, Retirees, and Surviving Spouses. AER runs an annual fundraising campaign each year. This campaign aims to improve awareness of the financial assistance available through AER and fulfill an Army core value of Soldiers supporting each other in a time of need.

AER headquarters awards installations with the best overall participation each year. Installations are recognized in three categories based on active-duty Soldier population for their participation numbers and money raised. Funds received from AAFES is included in the equation.
